Assessable learning outcomes:
This module uses both applied microeconomic and macroeconomic techniques to address and critically evaluate current EU policy. The aim is that students become familiar with modelling techniques that can be applied to assess likely policy outcomes. Students will also become familiarised with current academic writings on key policy issues.

Outline content:
This module extends some of the topics explored in the module European Economic Integration 1. The focus will be to further consider policy issues. The analysis will be extended to explore applied country and industry specific analysis, both at a theoretical and empirical level.

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Teaching will be largely lecture-based.

Assessment:
Coursework
One essay – to be complete by the end of the Spring term.

Relative percentage of coursework
Coursework has a weight of 20% in the final examination.

Penalties for late submission
Penalties for late submission will be in accordance with the University policy.
Unless an extension has been agreed beforehand, any work submitted after the deadline will be subject to a 10 out of 100 mark penalty deduction for work submitted between one and seven calendar days late, after which zero will be awarded.

Examination
One 1-hour unseen written paper.
Part 3 Final examinations begin in week 3 of the Summer term.

Requirements for a pass
A minimum mark of 40%.

Reassessment arrangements
Re-examination for Finals takes place in September of the same year.
