  • To develop musical skill, understanding and knowledge
  • Building an awareness of the musical needs of primary school children
  • Enhanced performing and composing skills
  • Growing awareness of a wide musical repertoire
  • Increased awareness of music materials and methodologies appropriate to the primary school

  • Assessable learning outcomes:

  • Instrumental/vocal progress
  • composition folio
  • keyboard, guitar and vocal skills
  • knowledge of ICT materials and resources in music
  • essays and seminars on music listening

  • working productively as part of a group
  • learning to organise and direct ensembles

  • Regular lessons in main instrument/voice
  • Performance seminar
  • Lectures and seminars in music listening
  • Group lessons in keyboard playing
  • Group lessons in guitar
  • Group lessons in use of voice
  • Lectures in music technology
  • Visits to observe good practice in the primary school
  • Ensemble work enhancing knowledge of instrumental/vocal techniques, resources and materials, and the basics of directing and conducting.
