Outline content:
The content of the unit will vary from year to year according to developments in English teaching and to the training needs of different student groups. However, this broad framework will be followed:
Term 6 (Summer): supported by a number of taught sessions, students will work on a project in pairs, researching an agreed aspect of primary English, both on campus and in school, and preparing a PowerPoint presentation of their findings for the whole group.
Term 7 (Autumn): students will work individually on a Poetry Anthology with teaching notes, supported by taught sessions exploring poetry in the primary school. Visiting speakers from local schools will deliver other sessions on a variety of relevant topics, such as the role of the English co-coordinator, the use of ICT for Literacy and the promotion of whole school approaches to writing.

Assessment:
Coursework Students prepare a poetry anthology for an age group within the primary school years. The anthology consists of a selection of 20 poems, with accompanying teaching notes for 6 of them.
Relative percentage of coursework : 100%
Examinations: None
Requirements for a pass: 40%
Reassessment arrangements: An alternative coursework assignment will be set, which will receive a maximum of 40%.
