  • Demonstration of knowledge of twentieth and twenty first century art practice

  • Additional outcomes:
The module also aims to develop further students’ oral communication skills and ability to evaluate personal work critically as they prepare for examination of practical work by viva voce. Students will also make connections between their work and its future relevance to and application in school.

    Outline content:
Students will work independently in the studio. The work might be a continuation of practical work developed in Modules ED1A2 and ED2A5 or new work produced specifically for this module. A high level of personal commitment to, and responsibility for, the development of their own studio practice is expected. This will require a sustained period of making; giving form to intentions; strengthening knowledge of materials and technical skills; developing the ability to evaluate personal work critically; and learning to value and respond to individual and group tutorial comment and analysis.
It is also expected that students maintain a high level of independent enquiry and research into the work of artists, past and present, and acquire a formal and critical language, informed through reading, discussion and a broad experience of art. Issues raised and addressed by contemporary art will also be considered and confronted.

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
