Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
The foundation skills for the dissertation will be addressed in the compulsory module HC3C17 Research and its application to Nursing Practice (HP), and through feedback from assessed work during the course.
In recognition of the possible loneliness associated with self directed study, at the commencement of the dissertation phase, the course co-ordinator will facilitate the students to come together as a group within the University to form a support group and share ideas and progress. It is envisaged that the support group would become self supportive following the initial group tutorial.
Students will be assigned a dissertation supervisor who will oversee the development of the work via tutorials. The topic area for the dissertation will be agreed with the Course Co-ordinator in the first instance and an appropriate supervisor identified.
