Aims:

  • To adopt a professional attitude throughout the school experience
  • To develop key skills in the construction and implementation of suitable plans
  • To bring together theory and practice in developing effective teaching skills
  • To gain experience of working with large groups

  • Assessable learning outcomes:

  • make positive and respectful relationships with children and adults
    demonstrating professional attitude
  • to work with a class teacher, school mentor and other staff to devise and implement plans for the teaching and learning of children in the appropriate Key Stage
  • to teach and manage effectively individuals, groups and whole class children
  • to increase your understanding of children's learning and gain insight into good teaching skills through reflecting on children's progress and adapting planning accordingly
  • to respond positively as a professional, reflective practitioner to constructive
    criticism and discussion of areas for development

  • Additional outcomes:
    To enable students to further develop their teaching skills in line with National requirements

    Outline content:
    Attendance at school placement for 7 weeks working alongside an experienced teacher. Discussion with professional colleagues in school, planning and teaching individuals, small groups and whole-class. Becoming involved with the wider life of the school and working to the National QTS Standards.

    Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
    The student will work alongside an experienced teacher and will implement the ideas and principles met during the taught modules ED2PF; ED2CE; ED2CX and ED2CS; ED2FS. They will learn through discussion, reflection, teacher feedback and gaining practical experience.
