Aims:
To provide a basic understanding of the organisation, production and consumption of welfare in the UK To critically examine the provision and regulation of welfare To look at the development of policy in three key areas: poverty and social exclusion; disability; old age. |
Assessable learning outcomes:
The student will be able to :
Describe the different systems of welfare operating in the UK and the roles of the central players involved Demonstrate an understanding of key debates and issues in contemporary welfare provision Discuss the development of policy in the areas of poverty and social exclusion; disability and old age. Demonstrate an understanding of ways in which policy may impact on practice. |
