To engage in a reflective process in order to faciltitate continued professional development

Additional outcomes:
Students will demonstrate:
The development of analytical and critical appraisal skills
Reflection in order to enhance their own professional and personal development.

Outline content:
This will be dictated by the area of practice chosen for the focus of the study and guided by the supervisor.

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
The foundation skills for the professional study will be addressed in the compulsory module HC3C37 Research, and through feedback from assessed work during the programme.

In recognition of the possible loneliness associated with self directed study, at the commencement of the professional study phase, the Course Co-ordinator will facilitate the students to come together as a group within the University to form a support group and share ideas and progress. It is envisaged that the support group would become self supportive following the initial group tutorial.

Students will be assigned a professional study supervisor who will oversee the development of the work via tutorials. The topic area for the professional study will be agreed with the Course Co-ordinator in the first instance and an appropriate supervisor identified.
