Aims:
The aims of the module are that the student should gain an understanding of theory and research on cognitive development from infancy to later childhood; and of theory and research in social attitudes and attributions. |
Assessable learning outcomes:
By the end of the module the student will be able to:
Show knowledge of theory and research in aspects of developmental and social psychology, in the form of written examination answers. |

Outline content:
Developmental psychology: cognitive development from infancy to later childhood; theoretical and experimental analysis, applied to topics such as cognition and memory. Social psychology: attitudes; attributions. |

Assessment:
Coursework None Examinations One-hour unseen multiple-choice examination at end of Autumn Term (35%). One-hour unseen essay type examination in Summer Term (65%). The examinations will require students to show knowledge of both developmental and social psychology. Requirements for a pass A mark of 40% overall Reassessment arrangements Re-examination in August/September. |
