Aims:
This module aims to equip students with the classroom language required to ensure that clear instructions are given, and to give them opportunities to practise this language in practical situations.

Assessable learning outcomes:
By the end of the module students will be able to understand and use in speaking and in writing the target language required to deliver lessons which include clear instructions and smooth transitions.
They will also be able to plan and deliver part of a lesson at Key Stage 3 and at A level(KS5), using appropriate target language, clear objectives, and activities linked to the objectives which show progression.

Additional outcomes:
Students will also plan and deliver parts of lessons for KS3 and KS4/5 pupils, following demonstrations of strategies to teach at this level. They will therefore gain an initial understanding of the requirements of the MFL curriculum at all levels, and how to teach it. In addition, they will be able to analyse and evaluate MFL teaching strategies in the target language, thus gaining an initial understanding of how the different parts of a lesson contribute to the whole, at the same time improving their personal language skills in the educational context.

All students will demonstrate the professionalism expected of beginning secondary school teachers, as shown in their attendance, punctuality, participation and general conduct.
