Aims:
To provide students with an opportunity of studying an area of individual interest in an area cognate with the Degree Programme
To facilitate the students skills of critical analysis as they relate to undertaking a literature review, evaluating research evidence and undertaking a research project employing an appropriate research methodology and methods

Assessable learning outcomes:
On completion of this module students will be able to

  • Identify a topic related to the Degree Programme
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out a literature review of their topic comprising research evidence
  • Demonstrate the ability to discuss relevant research methodologies and methods
  • Demonstrate the ability to undertake a research based project employing a methodology and research methods
  • Demonstrate the ability to critically analyse and discuss the findings

    Assessment:
    This module will be assessed by means of ,
    * a 15, 000 word comprising a literature review and research based project
    Penalties for late submission
    Work submitted up to a week late will be penalised by deducting 10%, with a mark of zero being recorded thereafter.
    Examinations
    Examinations will be held twice yearly. Each examination will consist of a two hour paper.
    Requirements for a pass
    To pass the students must attain an overall mark of 50%.
    Reassessment Arrangements
    A re-sit is permitted.
