Outline content:
The subject content is determined by the outline content of the co-requisite Period module. Students will be required to prepare and present TWO exercises as directed by the module convenor. These may include: literature search and evaluation (using both online bibliographic searching and identification of relevant websites); source evaluation, with presentation of the conclusions either individually or as a group; statistical exercise, with use of appropriate software and independent derivation of data from evidence; seminar paper; other forms of oral and written presentation. These activities will serve to emphasize, where appropriate, the distinctive nature and problems of sources for the period and the principal methodologies deployed by historians in studying them.
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
The module will be taught within the relevant period by means of seminars. In addition, students will be required to prepare for classes and carry out exercises.
