Aims:
Over recent years organisations have become increasingly aware that successful Supply Chain Management is pivotal to their gaining competitive advantage and reducing costs. The broad aim of this module is to provide an introduction to the concept of integrated Supply Chain Management and an understanding of the methods, techniques, practices and strategies involved in the integrated management of supply chains.

Assessable learning outcomes:

  • An understanding of the fundamental concept of integrated supply chain management
  • An understanding of the theories related to the management of supply chain operations
  • To perceive the contribution of Supply Chain Management to corporate strategies on both domestic and international levels
  • An appreciation of the importance of supply chain management at every stage of the food supply chain (farm, manufacturing, process, retail and final consumer)
  • An appreciation of the wider societal implications of supply chain management including global, social and ethical supply chain management
  • To gain an overview of the latest trends within Supply Chain Management
