Research Excellence at Reading

Together with twenty top performing departments, the University is home to a number of international centres of research excellence including several based in our top Meteorology department. It also houses a number of centres offering state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, including the Centre for Brain and Behaviour, the Centre for Advanced Microscopy and the BioCentre, with the last two being cross University facilities. Research on human ageing is another cross University research strength.

In the most recent RAE exercise, fifteen departments were awarded an RAE rating of 5 and five departments achieved the top grade of 5*.  The University also has internationally excellent research in many of its other centres and departments (full list of all units which conduct research is available).
